Frequently Asked: Where do your in-person counselling sessions take place?
My office is located in Victoria, BC. More specifically the Saanich area, near the Quadra and McKenzie intersection. I am on the third floor of the Datatech Business Centre, which has a large parking lot with two hours free parking, and within a block of two major bus stops. There is a Tim Hortons on the lower floor, and you'll find the main entrance right next to Anytime Fitness. Is online therapy an option? Yes, online counselling or phone counselling is available to anyone living in British Columbia. If you live locally you may choose an in-person, phone, or online session depending on your schedule and preferences. How do I find the right counsellor for me? It's a good idea to book a free consultation with various counsellors before choosing, so you can learn more about the kind of mental health support they offer, and to assess if they are a good fit for you. You should feel safe, comfortable, listened to, and well-supported toward your goals. What is your confidentiality policy? Confidentiality means that I have a responsibility to safeguard information about your assessment and treatment and to ensure it is kept confidential, except under specific circumstances. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC (British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors), I adhere to their standards of confidentiality which requires strict client confidentiality except in the following situations:
Do you prescribe medications? No. As an RCC, I am unable to prescribe medication or diagnose specific mental health conditions as listed under the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). If you are seeking a prescription for medication, I suggest reaching out to your doctor or psychiatrist. Research has shown that for many conditions, medication is most effective when paired with therapy/counselling. What forms of payment do you accept? I currently accept cash, cheque or Interac e-Transfer. What is your cancellation policy? I have a 24-hour cancellation policy otherwise full session fees are due, unless you have a significant emergency that occurs within the 24 hours before your session. Can I be reimbursed by my insurance? Most insurance providers cover sessions with an RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor). I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm coverage. |
